Uttarakhand government dismisses absent doctors, plans new recruitment

The services of 158 doctors who were absent from various hospitals under the Medical Health and Family Welfare Department have been terminated. The state government has approved this. While the health system was collapsing due to the absence of these doctors posted in government hospitals, patients in hilly and remote areas were facing many problems.

158 absent doctors dismissed in Uttarakhand

The government has started taking big decisions towards improving health services. The government is updating medical facilities in hospitals. The department has started cracking down on doctors and personnel who have been absent for a long time. 158 doctors of the Provincial Medical Health Service cadre posted in various government hospitals have been dismissed.

Doctors were missing in every district

The government has approved the dismissal proposal of 58 doctors. All these doctors were missing from hospitals for a long time without informing. Out of these, 60 doctors never joined the job, 59 doctors were absent without informing while 39 doctors were missing since the probation period. These include 12 doctors from Almora district, 11 each from Nainital, Champawat and Uttarkashi, 21 from Udham Singh Nagar, 9 from Dehradun and Bageshwar, 5 from Pithoragarh, 6 from Haridwar, 7 from Rudraprayag, 10 from Pauri Garhwal and 13 each from Tehri Garhwal and Chamoli. Apart from this, 20 more doctors who were absent from various hospitals across the state have also been dismissed.

Medical Service Selection Board to issue new recruitment

Due to these doctors being absent for a long time, patients from remote areas are facing huge problems. Due to not getting treatment at the local level, these patients have to turn to the district hospital or private hospitals in big cities. Apart from this, the government was receiving complaints about the missing doctors from local people and public representatives. Therefore, the government took a tough decision and implemented the action of dismissal against all these absent doctors. At the same time, the government says that the vacant posts of these doctors will be filled soon. For this, new recruitment will be done soon through Uttarakhand Medical Service Selection Board.
