Uttarakhand swelters in heat as temperatures across the state

Uttarakhand is experiencing severe heat amidst dry weather. Bright sunshine is shining from the mountains to the plains and the mercury is rising rapidly. For the first time this month, the temperature in Doon has crossed 38 degrees Celsius.

On the other hand, the maximum temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Roorkee on Monday. The heat is making the plains miserable. The Meteorological Department has predicted partial cloud cover in the hilly areas of the state today and light rain at some places. On Wednesday, most of the areas in the state may remain cloudy.

On Monday, bright sunshine was seen since morning in Dehradun and surrounding areas. Due to which the heat increased. However, partial clouds also hovered at some places after noon. But, humidity was felt due to this. The mercury has been continuously increasing for the last few days.

Roorkee recorded the highest temperature of 40.5 degree Celsius

On Monday, the temperature of Doon was recorded at 38.7 degree Celsius, which is three degrees Celsius more than normal. The mercury has also increased in the mountainous regions. Along with this, the mountains are also heating up and the scorching heat is making people miserable throughout the day. In Chardham and surrounding areas, there is bright sunshine along with partial clouds in between.

Chances of partial cloudiness and light rain in mountainous regions today

According to the Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of partial cloudiness in some parts of the state today. There may be light rain with thunder and lightning amid partial clouds around Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. Along with this, there are also chances of strong winds.

Due to the activation of Western Disturbance, a yellow alert has been issued on Wednesday for heavy showers with thunder and lightning in some parts of the state. There may be partial cloud cover on Chardham and Yatra routes as well.
