Earthquake tremors felt again in Uttarkashi

Earthquake tremors were felt in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi on Saturday. This is the second consecutive day tremors were felt in the region.
An earthquake had occurred at 5:48 am on Saturday (January 25), which filled people with panic. The intensity of the earthquake was measured 2.4 on the Richter scale. The depth of the earthquake is said to be five km. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the forest area between village Khurkot and Bharangaon of Tehsil Dunda. Yesterday, i.e. on Friday, three tremors of earthquake were felt in Uttarkashi.

The district headquarters including Maneri, Bhatwadi and Dunda areas were shaken by three tremors of earthquake on Friday morning. The first tremor of the earthquake was felt at 7:41 am, the second at 8:19 and the third at 10:59 am, the intensity of the first two tremors was 2.7 and 3.5 on the Richter scale respectively, whose epicenter was also located in Uttarkashi district. Whereas the third earthquake was very mild and hence its intensity could not be recorded on the Richter scale.
