Four villages of Uttarakhand to get the best tourism village award
For promoting rural tourism, four villages of the state will be awarded the Best Tourism Village Award on International Tourism Day by the Union Ministry of Tourism. This award distribution ceremony will be held in New Delhi on 27 September.
The Best Tourism Village Competition is organized every year at the national level by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. It tests commitment towards conservation of culture and natural wealth, promotion of community based values ββββand lifestyle and economic, social and environmental sustainability. Entries are invited on these subjects. This year, four villages of Uttarakhand have been selected for this award on the basis of entries.
Jakhol village of Uttarkashi district has been selected for adventure tourism, Harsil village for Vibrant Village, Gunji village of Pithoragarh district for Vibrant Village and Supi village of Nainital district for agricultural tourism.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has praised the efforts of all the villagers and congratulated them. The Chief Minister said that the general public has an important role in the tourism development of the state. The state government is making every possible effort to establish Uttarakhand as a tourist state; many schemes have been implemented for this purpose, but this goal can be achieved only with the cooperation of the God-like people of the state.
