8 killed in suspected Marburg virus outbreak in Tanzania

After the recent havoc of HMPV virus, now Marburg virus has put the world in worry. 8 people have died due to this dangerous virus in Tanzania. The World Health Organization (WHO) has described this incident as very serious and termed it a threat to international health security. WHO officials have expressed the need to take immediate steps to stop the spread of Marburg virus.
Marburg virus is a rare but deadly virus, which belongs to the Marburg and Ebola virus family. This virus causes severe and life-threatening hemorrhagic fever in humans. This virus was first reported in Germany and Serbia in 1967. It spreads from bats to humans and then reaches others by coming in contact with the infected person.

A person infected with Marburg virus shows symptoms like high fever, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea and internal bleeding. This virus is so deadly that the mortality rate from its infection can be up to 80%.
