The Eastern Japan Railway said that the Hayabusa No. 46 train to Tokyo stopped at an emergency stop in a tunnel shortly after departing from Sendai station in northeast Japan. When the conductor saw the warning light, the ninth bogie’s door was open.
A company spokesperson told news agency AFP that the conductor examined the vehicle and found that the gate was fully open. At the time of the incident, there were about 340 passengers on the train. However, there is no news of any injuries in it. The spokesperson further stated that the conductor completed the onward journey after examining the train.
The spokesperson also said that a janitor had accidentally left the car door open so that they could open and close manually. The spokesperson further said that” we sincerely apologize for this incident and the company will take steps to prevent any such incident from happening again”.
