Donald Trump press briefing ends abruptly after argument with journalist
US President Donald Trump confronted a journalist again in his press briefing. On Monday, he had an argument with an Asian-American reporter during the Coronavirus press briefing and left the press briefing midway.
CBS News reporter Weijia Jiang asked Trump why he is insisting that the US is better than other countries in terms of virus testing. Jiang asked, ‘Why does it matter so much? Why is this a global competition, even today, every day Americans are losing their lives?
Trump replied, ‘People are losing their lives everywhere in the world. And maybe you should ask this question to China. Don’t ask me, ask China this question, okay? ‘ Jiang again asked Trump’s answer – ‘Sir, why are you saying this to me?’
Trump replied, ‘I will say this to everyone who will ask such nonsense questions.’ Trump then turned to another reporter, ignoring Jiang.
Trump asked another female reporter to question him, but immediately stopped her and asked another reporter to question him. On this, the woman kept trying to raise her question. And told Trump that you called me earlier. But Trump suddenly stopped the press briefing by thanking people and went back to the White House.
Reactions on the Internet began to come on the matter and people were seen standing alongside the female reporter Jiang. Soon the hashtag #StandWithWeijiaJiang started trending on Twitter.
