Donald Trump wins US Presidential elections 2024

Donald Trump has won the 2024 presidential election in the US. The presidential race was a contest between Republican Party leader Donald Trump and his Democratic Party rival Kamala Harris. In the projection released during the counting of votes after the voting, Donald Trump has crossed the 270 vote mark required for victory. Swing states played an important role in the US election, in which Trump won the contest by winning three important states.

Electoral college votes are given to states on the basis of population. Voting is held for a total of 538 electoral college votes. The candidate who gets 270 or more electoral votes is declared the winner of the election. There are 50 states in the US and most of them have been voting for the same party in every election, except the ‘swing’ states.

Shares of IT companies rise due to Trump’s victory in America, Sensex climbs 901 points

Amid Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential elections, heavy buying in information technology (IT) and pharma shares led to a gain of more than one percent in the local stock markets on Wednesday. During this, the major stock index Sensex closed with a gain of 901 points. The BSE Sensex continued its rise for the second day as well and closed at 80,378.13 points, up 901.50 points or 1.13 percent. During the day’s trading, the index had risen 1,093.1 points or 1.37 percent to reach 80,569.73 points. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 24,484.05 points, up 270.75 points or 1.12 percent. Among the Sensex stocks, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Adani Ports, Larsen & Toubro, Maruti and Reliance Industries made notable gains. On the other hand, shares of Titan, IndusInd Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank declined.
