I2U2 summit: What is I2U2 summit, India-US, UAE-Israel’s new partnership

Over the years, new organizations and groups have emerged that are reshaping the geospatial landscape of the world. Based on the goals of mutual cooperation and partnership, these groups of four or five countries are engaged in making their strategic interests more effective. One such group has emerged called I2U2. The US has announced about this new group, in which three other countries are India, Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Israel and UAE are countries in Central Asia. I2 is used for India and Israel and U2 for US and UAE.

What is I2U2?

The question may arise in the mind that from where suddenly this group came into existence. So this group has not suddenly come into existence. Actually, its name has been changed a bit. In October 2021, there was a discussion about the West Asia Quad. The foreign ministers of these three countries, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, participated in this virtual summit held in October. The group was not formally recognized as the West Asia Quad at the time.

America has now named this summit as I2U2. In this summit of October 2021, it was told about this group that the four countries would be able to cooperate with each other. The areas where cooperation was discussed in the summit included infrastructure, technology, maritime security, trade. These four countries intend to use each other’s strengths in a better way. Obviously, with this group, India’s influence in the Middle East will increase more than ever and its strategic interests will be more secure.
