Know when US Presidential election results 2024 will be announced
People in the United States of America (USA) have started casting their votes on Tuesday. They will choose the next president for the country with their votes. Election results usually become clear soon after voting ends. However, this year’s election contest is tough so it may take a little longer for the final results to come.
The schedule for the 2024 presidential election began on Tuesday at 6:00 pm EST (11:00 pm GMT). The final polls will end on Wednesday at 1:00 am EST (6:00 am GMT).
When will the results come?
The first polls will end around 7 pm (5:30 am IST) in six states, including Georgia. The last polls will end in Alaska at midnight 12 am ET (10:30 am IST). Voting will end by 1 am ET (11:30 am IST). After this the counting of votes will start.
In previous presidential elections, results were often clear on election night or early the next day. However, this time, extra caution may have to be exercised before declaring a winner due to tight results in many states. Recent election polls show almost equal support between Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump.
Close results may lead to the need for recounting in some states. For example, Pennsylvania is a key swing state. Here, if the difference between the winner and the runner-up is less than half a percent, a recount will be required. In the 2020 election, there was a narrow margin of 1.1 percent in Pennsylvania.
