Many people were given two doses of the Covid vaccine, while some people were also given a booster dose of the Covid vaccine. Many times the effectiveness of the Covid vaccine was also questioned and it was said that it increased the cases of heart attack. However, health experts rejected these things outright. Now a new study has come out regarding the Covid vaccine, in which scientists told how many lives have been saved by it since the vaccine was made.
25 lakh lives saved by Covid vaccine
According to the report of Science Daily, between the years 2020 and 2024, the Covid-19 vaccine has saved the lives of about 25.33 lakh people worldwide. This information has come out from a new international report, which is based on a comprehensive research done by scientists from Universita Cattolica in Italy and Stanford University in the US. According to the report, on average, one death was averted with every 5,400 vaccine doses. This research has been published in a medical research journal called JAMA Health Forum.
The study found that people above 60 years of age got the biggest benefit of the Covid vaccine. In people of this age, 90% of the deaths were prevented by the Covid vaccine. Of the 1.48 crore life-years saved by the vaccine, 76% of the life-years are related to the elderly. It was also found that 82% of the people who received the vaccine before being infected with the virus could be saved. Also, 57% of the deaths were prevented during the time of the Omicron variant i.e. a crucial period of the pandemic.
