Putin declares temporary ceasefire in Ukraine on Easter

A big news related to the Russia and Ukraine war has come out. Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine on the occasion of Easter. The Kremlin gave this information on Saturday. According to the Kremlin, the ceasefire will run from 6 pm Moscow time (1500 GMT) on Saturday to midnight (2100 GMT) after Easter Sunday.
Russia-Ukraine exchanged hundreds of prisoners
Apart from this, news has also come out quoting AP that according to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russia and Ukraine have exchanged hundreds of prisoners in the largest exchange of the war.
Putin said that ‘guided by humanitarian considerations, from today (Saturday) from 18:00 to midnight on Sunday, the Russian side declares an Easter ceasefire. I order that all military actions be stopped for this period. Putin said this in a meeting with Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.’
Putin said that ‘we believe that the Ukrainian side will follow our example’. However, Putin also said that ‘our soldiers should be ready to prevent any possible violation of the ceasefire and provocation by the enemy, any aggressive action.’
This announcement has been made on the same day when the Russian Defense Ministry said that its security forces have driven Ukrainian forces from one of their last remaining bases in Russia’s Kursk region. The ministry said that Russian forces have taken control of the village of Oleshnya located on the border of Ukraine. However, there was no immediate response from the Ukrainian authorities.
