US increases Green Card cap on IT professionals from India

Good news for Indian IT professionals has come from America. Here the House of Representatives has removed the provision of maximum limit for every country on green card. Every year, the a maximum of seven percent green card applicants from the country were granted green card.

Now this limit has been increased from seven to 15 percent on the family-based immigrant visa. At the same time, this limit has been completely removed for employment based immigrant visas. This change is expected to benefit from skilled Indian IT professionals working there.

The Green Card allows non-U.S. Citizens to stay there permanently and to work there. Indian IT professionals who come here on H-1B visas have to face the highest loss due to the limit on the green card. Due to this limitation, Indian professionals have to wait for 10 years for the green card. In some cases this waiting becomes more than 50 years.

A bill introduced for removal of a maximum limit for the countries passed from the House of Representatives with 365 votes against 65 votes. After this the bill will have to be approved by the Senate. Then by the sign of President Donald Trump it will take the form of law.

Indian professionals have welcomed this bill. Many big American IT companies have also expressed happiness over passing the bill. They have appealed to the Senate that the bill should be passed early, so that it can be implemented as a law.
