Wales announces two week lockdown as Corona cases spike up

Amid an increase in cases of Corona virus infection in the UK, Wales in the south-west announced Monday to implement a ‘firebreak’ lockdown for two weeks, which will take effect from this Friday. These temporary measures in Wales will remain in effect until November 9, just like the strict restrictions that have been in place throughout the UK in the wake of the virus’s prevention during the peak of the pandemic.

During this time most of the businesses will remain closed and people are being asked to work from home as far as possible while staying at home. Non-essential shops, tourism and hospitality businesses will also remain closed. The First Minister of Wales Mark Drakeford said in a press conference in the capital Cardiff, “It will be dire and deep for the kind of influence we need.” Everyone in Wales has to stay indoors. All non-essential businesses will remain closed.

He said that there is no easy option before us because the virus is spreading rapidly in all parts of Wales. Mark has also announced funding for small and medium shoppers and other hospitality businesses, whose business establishments will remain closed due to the lockdown.
