Uttarakhand weather update: Temperature reaches 25 degrees in Feb
Due to dry weather and bright sunlight, the temperature has started rising in most areas of Uttarakhand including Doon. The maximum temperature in Doon has crossed 25 degrees Celsius. Due to which the cold has started leaving before time. This is the first time after the year 2020, when the temperature reached 25 degrees Celsius even before February 15.
However, the Meteorological Department has predicted light snowfall on the peaks amid partial clouds in the hilly areas on Tuesday. Due to which there may be a slight drop in the maximum temperature. There are chances of increase in minimum temperature.
Rapid increase in mercury
The weather has been dry in entire Uttarakhand for the last few days. Bright sunshine is shining from the mountains to the plains. Which provides relief from cold. The second week of February has not even completed and the mercury has started rising rapidly. In most areas the maximum temperature has increased by two to four degrees Celsius. Generally, the mercury reaches 25 degrees Celsius or more in Doon only after 15 to 20 February.
Apart from this, the minimum temperature is also increasing rapidly. According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, the weather is expected to remain dry in Uttarakhand today. The temperature may remain higher than normal. Whereas, with partly cloudy sky in the hilly areas on Tuesday, there may be light snowfall at altitudes above 3,500 meters in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh.
