Uttarakhand Finance Minister Prakash Pant dies after prolonged illness
The Finance Minister of Uttarakhand government, Prakash Pant died after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last in the University of Texas hospital.
He had gone to America just a few days ago for treatment. Earlier, Pant was under observation for a few days in the ICU of Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Delhi. However, there was no clear information about his illness. With his sudden demise, there is a wave of grief in the entire region including Pithoragarh.
Uttarakhand BJP’s senior leader and the news of the death of Finance Minister Prakash Pant in the Cabinet is a wave of grief in the state.Prakash Pant had won the Silver Medal (GB Mavalankar Shooting Competition Coimbatore Year 2004) at the national level. Uttarakhand Chief Minister took to Twitter to express his grief.

CM Trivendra Rawat handling Finance department
Due to their illness, the finance department was being handed by the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. Pant was the minister of parliamentary affairs, legislative, language, finance, excise, drinking water and sanitation, sugarcane development and sugar industry.
Pant first elected from Pithoragarh assembly from 2002 to 2007. While presenting the Budget in the Vidhan Sabha during the budget session, Uttarakhand’s Finance Minister Prakash Pant health had worsened. Because of which the Finance Minister could not even read the full budget speech. The remaining budget speech was completed by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.
