Solar projects of nearly 150 MW capacity to be implemented in Uttarakhand

Solar power projects of 148.85 MW will be set up in hill areas through permanent residents of Uttarakhand. In the secretariat, under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, in the meeting of the Project Approval Committee, proposals of 208 applicants were given green signal for these projects.

Proposals were made for 200 MW of solar power projects under Uttarakhand Solar Power Policy-2013 (revised -2018). It was informed in the meeting that all selected 208 applicants will have to complete solar projects by June 30, 2020. With the establishment of these projects, about 600 crore rupees will be invested in the state. All projects will be invested by investors from their financial resources.

Power Energy Corporation, will buy the electricity produced from these projects for 25 years. The Chief Secretary instructed not to lose time in the implementation of the projects. Continuous monitoring instructions were given to complete all the work on schedule. Instructions were given to the officers to provide all possible help to the selected developers. The Chief Secretary instructed all the District Magistrates to provide necessary assistance to the developers in the establishment of the projects.

He said that these projects will prove to be helpful in preventing migrations from the hilly areas and creating employment opportunities locally. Together the state will get clean energy. He directed UREDA to invite the remaining 52 MW capacity proposals. Energy Secretary Radhika Jha told that a total of 237 offers were received online for the above projects through UREDA.

Their technical evaluation committee tested them. 208 proposals were found to be correct in the trial. She said that the tender received a minimum 3.30 per unit and a maximum of 4.71 rupees per unit of solar power rate. These proposals are under the prescribed maximum rate of Rs 4.73 per unit from the Electricity Regulatory Commission.
