State Government asks center to establish Glacier Institute in Uttarakhand

The state government has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government to establish a glacier institute in Uttarakhand to deal with the glacier-caused disaster. Along with this, three incubator centers have also been requested to be opened in Dehradun, Pantnagar and Haridwar to provide relief to the industries. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat virtually attended the board meeting of NITI Aayog on Saturday. Agenda for the development of the state was presented during this period. Apart from discussing the needs of the state, he also informed about the efforts being made in this context.

During the three-minute address, the Chief Minister also mentioned the role of centrally aided schemes for the development of the state along with the contribution of environmental services. CM Rawat said that the state government is focusing on marginal area development. He expected more support from the central government in its related schemes. Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that the Chief Minister stressed to develop a strong mechanism to deal with the disaster. He requested to set up a glacier institute to deal with glacier threats in the state.

Along with this, there has also been a demand to open three incubator centers to promote startups and innovation in the state. The Chief Minister has also emphasized to build cargo terminals in Doon and Pantnagar to increase trade and investment prospects in the state. He also referred to the disparate geographical conditions and disasters of the state.

He said that due to this, the implementation of development plans for the state is becoming very difficult. During this period, information was also being taken to increase digital connectivity and road connectivity in the state, to prevent self-employment and migration.
