Snowfall continues on the mountains of Uttarakhand, mercury starts falling
Snowfall has started in Uttarakhand. The cold has increased due to snowfall on the high peaks. The weather in the plains of Uttarakhand remains dry and the sun is shining brightly. Whereas, the weather patterns have changed in the mountainous areas. Heavy snowfall occurred in Kedarnath amidst dense clouds.
Light snowfall occurred in other high altitude areas including the peaks of Badrinath Dham. At the same time, light to moderate rainfall occurred in the surrounding low-lying areas. Due to this, severe cold is being felt in the mountainous areas.
Weather is expected to remain normal
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain normal in most areas of the state for the next few days. There may be light rain and snowfall at some places in the mountainous areas. In Dehradun and surrounding areas, the maximum temperature is likely to be above normal and the minimum temperature is likely to be below normal.
Changing weather patterns in the high Himalayas
The weather patterns in the high Himalayas have been changing for the last two-three days. It is snowing lightly in the afternoon. Due to snowfall, the temperature is falling at other high altitude places including Munsiyari. There is a slight change in the weather in the last two-three days at the higher reaches of Munsiyari. The sky is cloudy in the surrounding areas including Munsiyari and there is snowfall on the high peaks of the Himalayas.
