Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2022-23 to open for subscription on June 20

If you want to buy gold for investment, then from June 20, you are going to get a special opportunity. The Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) scheme will be open for purchase in the first series of 2022-23 for five days from June 20. At the same time, there will be an opportunity from 22 to 26 August for the application in the second series of the scheme.

Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme Details

Under this scheme, the government issues bonds. These bonds can be sold only to resident individuals, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), trusts, universities and charitable institutions. Under this, you can buy a minimum of 1 gram and a maximum of 4 kg of gold bonds. The Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme will have a tenure of eight years, with premature maturity after the 5th year.

The issue price will be lower by Rs 50 per gram if you apply for and pay for the bond through the digital medium. The investors will be paid an interest of 2.5 per cent per annum on the fixed price on a half yearly basis.

Sovereign Gold Bond Schemes were issued in 10 tranches worth a total of Rs 12,991 crore in the last financial year 2021-22. It can be bought or sold through banks, Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), Clearing Corporation of India Limited (CCIL), post offices and two stock exchanges (NSE and BSE).
