Uttarakhand Open University to begin semester system from July session
Semester arrangement will start from July session at Uttarakhand Open University (UOU). However, BA and BCom students are excluded from this for the time being. There are 115 study centers in the state of UOU. In all these, semester arrangement will be applicable from July session.
A meeting of university directors, Vice Chancellor and department in-charge was held under the chairmanship of OPS Negi, in which the proposal for the semester system was approved. VC Prof. Negi said that the UGC had earlier received instructions to implement the semester system in open universities, according to which it has been decided to implement the semester system from July session at UOU. The education board will have a meeting in the second week of April. Heads of departments of all disciplines have been asked to prepare the syllabus before the meeting. Pro. Negi said that the semester system will be implemented in MA, MSc, M.Com and professional courses. The semester system will further improve the quality of education.
Keeping in view the high student numbers and student interests in BA and BCom, the semester system will be exempted.
