Dehradun-Haridwar-Rishikesh corridor to be developed in the 1st phase

The Mussorie-Dehradun Development Association has begun the work of developing the Metro Train project for the Dehradun-Rishikesh-Haridwar corridor. The Uttarakhand Government has given its green signal for the project based on the blue print prepared by an outsourcing company. The company in its plans has estimated a cost of Rs. 40 crore for the entire project. Every day thousands of commuters travel from Dehradun to Rishikesh and Haridwar increasing traffic on the roads.

Due to heavy traffic, the ‘working class’ is the one to suffer the most and with the Dehradun metro project been given the green signal it is bound to decrease their traveling time. The MDDA had given a report to the government listing the grievances faced by the commuters on the Dehradun-Rishikesh and Dehradun-Haridwar roads, the government gave its nod and plans were chalked out to get metro train to the Doon valley.

Initailly, plans were made to run the metro between Dehradun and Haridwar but know the government has planned to develop it into a corridor by including Rishikesh as well.
