Uttarakhand CM conducts surprise raids in Government offices, rides city buses with citizens

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Monday conducted surprise inspection of offices at state secretariat in Dehradun and expressed “unhappiness” over the absence of officials from duties. He also warned secretaries concerned of ‘stern action’ if they did not keep an eye on the day-to-day functioning of their departments, an official release said.

Officials and employees of various departments of the state secretariat were caught unaware as Rawat arrived at their offices, accompanied by his secretaries and other officials. Noting that a major change in the work culture of government offices is needed for development, he asked joint secretaries and additional secretaries of the departments concerned to take stock of their sections periodically and take errant officials to task, it said.

The CM also warned them of “tough action” if they were found to be lackadaisical in their approach.
