Urgam Valley forest fire destroys resources worth lakhs

A raging inferno at Urgam valley has seen natural resources worth lakhs of rupees go up in flames. The Urgam Valley forest fire shows no signs of slowing down even after 2 days, even though the forest department is trying its very best to stop extinguish the flames.

Situated in 2134mts Urgam valley is situated in Chamoli district, near Joshimath. Main station for Urgam valley is Helang, the connectivity to helang is motorable via Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karanprayag, Nandprayag, Pipalkoti. There is a dense forest abundant with large variety of flora and fauna.

As per reports the forests of Urgam valley caught fire two days ago which the villagers reported to the forest department officials. A team from the department was dispatched to extinguish the fire but large number of Devdar trees present in the area provided more fuel to the fire. Although the team is constantly trying its best the inferno shows no sign of slowing down.
