Valley of flowers to remain closed for 3 days due to heavy rain forecast

The World Heritage Valley of Flowers will remain closed for the movement of tourists for the next three days. The park administration has taken this decision in view of the heavy rain alert of the Meteorological Department. Forest Officer Gaurav Negi said that the park administration has taken the decision as a precaution.

Record tourists arrived this year

Tourists are flocking to see the world famous Valley of Flowers. So far, a record 19852 tourists have reached the Valley of Flowers, whereas in 2019 till this time, the highest number of tourists reached the valley was 17,424. The Valley of Flowers will close on October 31. This time in the Valley of Flowers, tourists remained active throughout the season. The valley was opened for tourists on June 1.

More than 500 species of flowers

More than five hundred species of flowers bloom in the valley at different times. Many flowers remain in bloom from the first week of July to the third week of October. Many flowers like Potentilla, Primula, Anemone, Arisaema, Blue Poppy, Mars Mary Gold, Brahma Kamal etc bloom here. The valley has a wealth of rare species of fauna, flora and herbs. Many colorful butterflies also live in the valley. Musk deer, Monal, Himalayan black bear, Snow leopard are also seen in this valley.

Where is the valley of flowers?

Located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, the World Heritage Valley of Flowers comes under Nanda Devi National Park. Due to its natural beauty and biological diversity, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2005. Spread over 87.5 sq km, the Valley of Flowers attracts not only India but also foreign tourists.
