Rural Development Department organizes ‘Gullak’ to strengthen rural entrepreneurship

Rural Business Incubators scheme was started last year by the Rural Development Department, Government of Uttarakhand in order to prevent migration in the rural areas of the state and to provide maximum opportunities for self-employment and to promote entrepreneurship development for self-employment in rural areas, under which the state will be set up as a hub. Two Incubaters were established in Kotdwar and Hawalbagh respectively, providing a variety of services to rural enterprises, mainly including support in business development planning, access to debt financing, technical training, mentorship, support, legal and compliance support, market access Diverse Central convergence, digital marketing etc. Services are being provided along with government schemes. Under the scheme, priority is given by incubators in providing support to women and economically weaker communities, along with full support is also provided to entrepreneurs in setting up business.

To strengthen rural entrepreneurship in the state and for sustainable rural entrepreneurship development and as a unique initiative of the Rural Development Department, a program named Gullak was organized on January 10 to increase the business of established and expanded rural entrepreneurs through incubators, investment, technical cooperation.

Today, a program called Gullak was organized at, Chief Minister’s residence complex, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun. On this occasion, the program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Uttarakhand and the program was presided over by Rural Development Minister. This is the first such program in the country. In this program organized by the Rural Development Department, more than 60 such entrepreneurs from different sectors were provided a unique platform along with 16 investors, in which details and pitching were presented by the entrepreneurs about their venture to the investors and the investors could invest in these enterprises.

In the program organized a total investment of about Rs 1.25 crore was made by the investors . In addition to the above, a grant of Rs 5.20 lakh was also given to 19 entrepreneurs by the investors.

Looking at the results of the Rural Business Incubator, the CM Dhami also announced in the above program that: – ‘To implement this scheme in the remaining districts of the state under the hub and spoke model, the spokes of the Rural Business Incubator will be established.’
In this way, according to the announcement of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, rural business incubators will be established in each district of the state by the Rural Development Department.

This type of program organized for rural entrepreneurs is the first attempt in the country, where rural entrepreneurs are presenting their idea/business to investors with the aim of taking their business forward.
This platform will help entrepreneurs to expand their business. The program was attended by various investors from across the country,

Along with this, the Mission Antyodaya survey was also launched by the Chief Minister. Under this, survey work will be done on the subjects related to infrastructure, services, economic development and social justice available in the villages.

On this occasion, Secretary Rural Development Department Uttarakhand Dr. BVRC Purushottam, Commissioner Rural Development Department Pauri Mr. Anand Swaroop, Additional Secretary Rural Development Department Mrs. Nitika Khandelwal, Chief Executive Officer of RVI Dr. Prabhakar Bebani, PWC TSA team and other officers of the department were present.
