Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand on July 11

The sequence of rains that have been going on across the state for the last three days will continue on Tuesday as well. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain across the state on Tuesday. In particular, there has been a warning of heavy rains in the districts of Kumaon. A warning of heavy rain has been issued in the state for Wednesday as well.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at some places in Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand on Tuesday. In the rest of the districts, there may be heavy rainfall at some places. There will be thunder and lightening at some places in the state and heavy rain.

It is raining heavily in Dehradun for the last many hours. On the other hand, according to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, the process of heavy rain may continue for the next two days.

The State Emergency Operation Center has instructed to take precautions in view of continuous rise in the water level of rivers in Haridwar and Nainital due to heavy rains. On behalf of Deputy Secretary and Duty Officer Vivek Kumar Jain, guidelines have been issued to the District Magistrates for proper management.

On Monday, 126 mm of rain was recorded in Rishikesh, 103 mm in Narendranagar, 31 mm in Champawat, 24 mm in Bhagwanpur, 20 mm in Laksar. This figure may increase due to rain till late night. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the state on Wednesday as well. Whereas on July 13 and 14, a yellow alert has been issued for the storm with lightning.

School holiday extended till Tuesday

In view of the Meteorological Department’s warning, the Dehradun District Magistrate has extended the holiday till Tuesday in all educational institutions from classes 1 to 12 in the district. All Anganwadi centers have also been kept in this order.
