Hundreds of villages cut-off due to snow in Uttarakhand

Three days of rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand came to an end. There was some fog in the plains on Thursday morning, but people got relief with sunshine in most places. Despite this, the problems of the people of the mountain region are still intact. About three hundred villages were isolated due to snowfall. At the same time electricity has also failed in about four hundred villages.

Mussoorie received heavy snowfall from Wednesday evening till late night. At the same time, Pauri also had its first snowfall of the season. Life in the state has been disrupted due to the weather. Due to this more than three hundred villages have been cut from the district headquarters, while about 400 villages have power failure.

More than two dozen roads have come to a standstill. Due to heavy snowfall, the route along the Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath highways, including the road leading to Auli, could not be opened.

The mountains received heavy snowfall in the state amid intermittent rains since Tuesday. About seven feet of snow has accumulated in Kedarnath. More than 50 people engaged in reconstruction work have been sitting in their tents for three days. In Rudraprayag district, incessant snowfall has increased in Tungnath, Chopta and Chirbatia.

The Harsheel valley in Uttarkashi is snow-white. The closure of the Gangotri highway has left 30 villages isolated. On the other hand the Chakrata hills of Dehradun district are also snow-capped. Traffic on the road going is stalled. The snow continued to fall on the hills around Mussoorie till late into the night.

Mercury below zero in Mussoorie

Entire Uttarakhand is in the grip of cold wave due to weather conditions. Mercury has reached below zero in Mussoorie, Joshimath, Mukteshwar and Champawat. In the other three cities, the minimum temperature was less than three degrees Celsius. In addition, the maximum temperature also took a dive. In eight cities of the state, it could not even touch the figure of ten.
