1.5 percent Uttarakhand population suffer from alcohol addiction claims report

Eight percent of people consume alcohol in Uttarakhand but 1.5 percent have become addicted to alcohol. More than six thousand people are injecting drugs. This was revealed in the Random Survey Report of the National Drug Dependency Treatment Center AIIMS.

The Social Welfare Department will work under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction Program in the state to prevent drug addiction. It has started in Dehradun and Nainital.

According to the report of the National Drug Dependency Treatment Center AIIMS, 3.38 percent of the people are consuming cannabis, while .53 percent of the people are suffering from it. 2.58 percent people are opium opiate, while .32 percent people take it. 2.09 percent people take the drug and .21 percent have become addicted to it and cocaine habit is 0.02 percent.

The Social Welfare Department will conduct awareness programs against drugs. Will work towards de-addiction, treatment, rehabilitation of de-addiction and employment. Under the National Action Plan, 2 crore 20 lakh rupees have been received from the Ministry of Social Empowerment. Work on this has started in Nainital and Dehradun.

IRCA (Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Addicts) will be set up in 13 districts under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction Program. Among these, there will be counseling of a drunk person, care after treatment, skill development etc. The special thing is that IRCA will be directly linked with the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.

Under this, separate wards will be made for such patients in government hospitals. Also, if private hospitals come forward to treat such patients, then the Social Welfare Department will also fund them. NGOs will be funded for this program. Along with this, the social welfare department will also support various departments working against drugs. The social welfare department will be responsible for integrating all the departments and working under the said scheme.

ODIC centers will also be built

Drug activity is increasing more rapidly. For this, ODIC (Out Reach and Dropping Center) will be made. There will be a screening of a drunk person in this center. Counseling will also be done for such patients. The National Institute of Social Defense under the Ministry of Social Empowerment will assist in the training program.

Training will be given to doctors and paramedical staff

Doctor and paramedical staff will be trained under the said program. Also, school children will be told about the side effects of intoxication as well as prevention. In this, along with training of Panchayati Raj Department, NGOs and other government departments, their role will be ensured. There will also be seminars at schools, colleges and universities to prevent and prevent the side effects of addiction.

The National Action Plan for Drug Demand Deduction Program is beginning. The amount has come for Dehradun and Nainital district. Funds are being allocated from the level of Director of Social Welfare. 75 lakh rupees will be received from the Government of India soon for the next year’s plan. Plans will also be made for other districts.
