The case of artificial lake being built near the Gaumukh Glacier has reached the High Court. The Bench of Chief Justice KM Joseph and Justice VK Bisht issued instructions to the government in the matter. Acharya Ajay Gautam, resident of Delhi has filed a PIL in this case. It has been said that taking lessons from the accident caused by the breakdown of the Chaubari Lake (Gandhi Sarovar) built in the upper part of Kedarnath, the government should take it seriously in this matter. The court has asked the government to seek help from ISRO and NDRF.
