Former Uttarakhand Governor Sudarhsan Agarwal no more

Former Uttarakhand Governor Sudarshan Agarwal died on Wednesday in Delhi. Agarwal, 88, was running ill for a long time. On his death, Governor Baby Rani Maurya and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat have expressed deep condolence. On Thursday, the government has declared a one-day state mourning over the former governor’s death .

Sudarshan Agarwal was the Governor of Uttarakhand from January 2003 to October 22, 2007. On October 25, 2007, he was sworn in as the governor of Sikkim. Earlier, he was also the Uttar Pradesh Governor from July 3, 2004 to July 7, 2004. He was also the General Secretary of the Rajya Sabha. Sudarshan Agarwal, who played a key role in the establishment of Himmat Jyoti School in Uttarakhand, was born on January 19, 1931 in Ludhiana, Punjab.

His health was bad for a long time. Governor Baby Rani Maurya expressed condolences with the bereaved family members while expressing grief over the information. In the condolence message, the governor said that late Agarwal was a skilled administrator, superior lawmaker and a great social worker. While being the Governor of Uttarakhand, he adopted the ideal approach to development of the state. Himmat Jyoti School established by him is a heritage for the state. He also discharged his responsibilities as the governor of Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat paid tribute to him and said that as the governor he played an important role in giving direction to Uttarakhand. He had great interest in social service. On Thursday, the government declared a state mourning on the death of former governor. At the state mourning, the national flag will be half-mast in all the offices of the state. Government entertainment programs will not be organized.
