Heavy to very heavy rain alert has been issued for many districts of Uttarakhand including capital Dehradun. Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri, Chamoli and Nainital are expected to be affected by heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours, according to the warning. All schools in Dehradun from class 1 to 12 will be shut on August 6 after India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday released a warning of heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand.

Due to landslides and rains, the annual Char Dham Yatra has also been stopped in some places. The Regional Meteorological Department has warned the District Officials and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to clear the debris at some places.
