Flood like situation in Himachal Pradesh due to continuous rain

According to the Meteorological Department, due to heavy rains in the last 24 hours, 127 mm rainfall has been recorded so far. Due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh there are flood-like conditions in Beas river. In Manali, a video showing the fury of Beas river has surfaced. The bus stuck in the river was flown away by the strong current. Fortunately no loss of life has been reported in this incident. This incident has happened in Manali of Kullu district.

The north-west monsoon has caused disaster there, due to which heavy rains and landslides are taking place. Highways have been closed due to landslides. Due to floods in the Beas river, its water has reached the highway, hence the National Highway 21 connecting Chandigarh and Manali has been closed.

The raging form of the Beas river is not showing any signs of becoming calm. The water level in the river has crossed the figure of one lakh cusecs after seven years. With torrential rains in catchment areas, water level in Beas has reached 1.10 lakh cusec. This figure was 1.36 lakh cusecs in rainy season in 2011. This time the situation in the last week of September this time.

Deep drinking water crisis

88,000 cusec water is being released from the Pandoh dam. Threat of flood like situation in the lower areas remain. Many drinking water lines are sunk in the lake. Drinking water crisis has deepened in many other towns including the city of Mandi. At the middle of the night in the town of Oat, water entered the house of many reisdents. The administration has evacuated many houses here and has brought people to safer places.

Closed power generation

The Beas is flowing above the iron bridge on the Oat-Bazar route. Electricity production has stopped in the 126 MW Larji project since early morning. This has caused a loss of money due to heavy flooding of wood and garbage, there is a threat to the Larkji and Pandoh dam.

Road closure from landslide

The work of removing debris was going on in Pandoh Dam overnight. BBMB’s top officials have camped on the dam. Manali Chandigarh National Highway is still completely submerged in Dudhara. The movement of vehicles on the route has been closed since Sunday. Thousands of vehicles are stranded on both sides of the route. People have to face difficulties with it. On the alternate route, Mandi Kamand, Katola-Bajora, the situation of jam remained. The rain is relentless.
Pathankot-Mandi is closed due to landslide at midnight near the National Highway Maigal. JCB has been installed for the restoration of the route. Hundreds of vehicles are also stranded on this route. From the torrential rains that took place for three days, common life has become disrupted.
