JoSAA Counselling 2020: Check here Live Updates, Procedure & Participating Colleges

The Human Resources Development (MHRD) Ministry established the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) in 2016. The JoSAA Counselling 2020 Round 1 and Round 2 has concluded recently and their results are out. The remaining rounds of counselling will happen subsequently. Aspirants can check the official website to check results. The authority manages the counselling and allocation of seats for admission to top engineering colleges to the eligible candidates after JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams. This year 110 institutes including the IITs, NITS, GFTIs and self-financed colleges are taking part in this process. The authority is conducting registrations for counselling online. JoSAA Counselling 2020 – Dates & Facts

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) helps the eligible candidates with the allotment of the seats for admissions in the various  JoSAA participating institutes including IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs and other GFTIs. Now both the Round 1 & Round 2 Counselling Results are out on https://josaa.nic.in/.

110 colleges are expected to take part in the JoSAA Counselling 2020. The work of this authority is to streamline the seat allotment process for admissions to more than 30,000 undergraduate engineering seats.

The eligible aspirants who meet the JoSAA counselling eligibility criteria get seats based on their category, gender and merit basis. The candidates must qualify the JEE Main / Advanced for seats across IITs, NITs, IIITs, IIEST and GFTIs.

CSAB SFTI will take place for admission to 17 self-financed institutes. On the other hand, CSAB NEUT will be conducted for admission to supernumerary seats in the North East territories and Union Territories. Check JoSAA Round 1 Cutoff for IIT, NIT, IIIT

Aspirants can check the below steps for Round 1 cutoff lists for IITs, NITs, IIITs:

  • Log on to the official website – nic.in
  • On the left side of the home page, you can click on the OR-CR link in 2020
  • Now provide the following information – Round Number, Type of Institute, College Name, and Course
  • After providing the details, the Round 1 Rank list will appear.

JoSAA 2020 Counselling Procedure

Knowing the JoSAA Counselling Procedure 2020 is important for both present and future aspirants. To begin with, eligible candidates first need to visit the official website this year. Mentioned below are the following steps.

Steps to follow:

  • Login to the JoSAA Counselling 2020 portal by filling roll number and password.
  • Then, the aspirants need to fill the choices in the prescribed section and lock their preferences as per the prescribed dates.
  • The aspirants must not forget to lock their filled choices before submitting.
  • To check the provisional seat allotment, the candidates can check by visiting the official website of JoSAA Counselling 2020 where all the dates are mentioned.
  • Once the seat allotment is done, the candidates are requested to download the provisional seat allocation letter. And pay for the seat acceptance fee.
  • The candidates from the SC, ST and PwD categories have to pay 15,000 INR.
  • The candidates belonging to other categories need to pay 35,000 INR.
  • The payments are made through the SBI net banking or e-challan.

Reporting To the Colleges:

  • Once the aspirants have accepted the seat, the candidates have to appear at the respective reporting centres for getting the verification process done of the documents. Aspirants must report the centre at the mentioned date & time.
  • Students must carry all their original documents and one set of photocopies with them at the reporting centre. Failure into providing the same can result in a cancellation of the seat.
  • The students who have selected float options may get a better seat in the next JoSAA counselling rounds. Documents need to be presented again for verification.

Reporting at the Institution for Admission –

  • Finally, post the completion of all the above processes, the prospective aspirants will have to report at the allotted JoSAA colleges.

JoSAA Counselling – Reservation for EWS Candidates

JoSAA also has provisions for the EWS aspirants for admission to the top colleges. The provision came into place after the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment issued a guideline for the same.

  1. Each college or institute is obliged to increase the number of seats. It must be above the yearly approved strength for each field of study or faculty.
  2. With this, the available number of seats, excluding the ones reserved for the aspirants from the EWS, must not be less than the total number of available seats in the academic year preceding immediately before the commencement date of the O.M. by the Social Justice and Empowerment ministry.
  3. Adding to this, the reservation instructions for admission to educational institutes will be released by the Ministry of HRD.

JoSAA Counselling is live now and will conclude by 13th Nov 2020 with the Acceptance or Withdrawal of seat by verifying documents in a physical mode at the allocated institute (for NIT+ system).
