Tiger Woods to be awarded Presidential Medal by Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump will honor Veteran Golfer Tiger Woods with his country’s largest civilian honor ‘Presidial Medal of Freedom’ at White House on Monday. Trump congratulated Woods on winning the Masters Tournament last month. Woods will be honored on Monday 6th May. The 43-year-old Woods won the fifth Masters title in Augusta after a gap of 10 years in April.

America’s highest civilian honor

Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian honor in America. Woods is the fourth golfer to receive this honor. In 1963, the then President John F. Kennedy started this honor. Other golfers who received this honor include Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and PGA Tour’s first African American player Charlie Sifford.

Career’s 15th Major title is Woods

Woods won his career 15th major title on the Augusta National Course last month. He had won here in 2005, 14 years ago. So far he won the Masters title in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005. The past 11 years has been extremely difficult for Woods. He had to undergo surgery on his back several times and had to cope with many personal problems. Woods said, “I consider myself as lucky to win this after all the troubles I fought with.”
