Uttarakhand to face power cuts as demand increases

Now power cuts in Uttarakhand has reached even big cities. There is a huge gap between the demand and availability of electricity. Due to this, now there will be power cut in industries including cities, villages in the state on Monday. The state’s furnace industries may have to face cuts of up to six hours. Along with this, normal industries may also have to face power cut of two to three hours.

In villages and small towns, the same power cut will last for three hours. Even in big cities, there will be a problem of one and a half to two hours. Even in Dehradun, there will be power cuts in the outer areas of South, Raipur and North divisions. For Monday, the power demand is 50.53 MU and the availability is just 40.53 MU.

The corporation did not get any help from the government

The Energy Corporation had earlier demanded a subsidy of Rs 350 crore from the government to make it available to the public at cheaper rates by purchasing expensive electricity from the market. This demand was rejected at the government level. After this a proposal to give interest free loan was sent. This proposal has also been pending with the government for the last one month.
