India defeat Pak to reach Davis Cup World Group qualifiers

Indian players continued to make a blistering performance in the Asia-Oceania Group of Davis Cup against Pakistan. In this match, India got an unbeatable 3-0 lead against Pakistan. India won both their singles matches on the first day of the matches on Friday. India has entered the next round by winning the doubles match on Saturday. Now India will face Croatia in the next round. On the other hand, Pakistan’s challenge is once again broken in the Asia-Oceania group of Davis Cup.

This Davis Cup match between India and Pakistan was being played in Kazakhstan. On the second day of the match, there was a doubles match between the two countries. India added Leander Paes and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in this match. From Pakistan, Abdul Rahman and Shoaib Mohammad entered the match. This Pakistani pair could not survive in front of Leander Paes and Jeevan. The Indian pair defeated the Pakistani pair in just 53 minutes. Paes-Jeevan won the match 6–1, 6–3.

Earlier, on Friday, Ramkumar Ramanathan and Sumit Nagal gave India a 2–0 lead in their respective matches. Ramkumar defeated 17-year-old Mohammad Shoaib 6–0, 6–0 in a 42-minute match. At the same time, Sumit defeated Hufaija Mohammad Rahman 6–0, 6–2.

This match of India vs Pakistan was to be held in Islamabad in September. India had demanded to change the location of the match, expressing dissatisfaction with the security arrangements in Pakistan. After this, the India-Pakistan match was shifted to Kazakhstan. The winner of this match will go to Croatia for the World Group Qualifiers, which will be played from March 6-7. Sumit Nagal then won his second reverse singles qualifiers to give India a 4-0 win. The fifth match was called off mutually by the two countries due to it being a dead rubber.
