Uttarakhand cabinet decides to lessen Motor Vehicle Act fines by upto 50 percent

The meeting of Uttarakhand cabinet concluded on Wednesday. Many important proposals were approved in the meeting. A total of 16 proposals were placed in the cabinet meeting, out of which 15 proposals were approved by the cabinet. The biggest decision has been taken by the government on the amendment in the Motor Act 1988. The government has given an exemption of up to 50 per cent in fines of some rules of the New Motor Vehicle Act issued by the Center.

Here are the provisions:

– The penalties given in the rules of sections 177, 178, 178 (2), 178 (3) (a), 112 have been kept unchanged.
– Penalty reduced from Rs 5,000 to 2,500 in section 180.
– In section 7 i.e. on the modification of the vehicle, the fine amount was reduced from one lakh to 50 thousand.
10,000 fine reduced to 5,000 in section 182 (b).
– Fines of 2500 instead of 10,000 for noise pollution and air pollution.
– Rs 200 per ride fine will be levied for over-riding.
– Provision for fine of one thousand rupees on not wearing seat belt.
– Provision of penalty of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 5,000 for not giving way to firefighting, ambulance vehicles.

Important decisions of the cabinet

2668 posts were permanently approved under Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The salary of some of the remaining employees has also been increased by 5 percent.
– Cabinet approved to place annual accounts on the Legislature table under camp notification.
– Approval of amendment made in Group ‘C’ of Uttarakhand State Rules.
– No facility will be given to former Chief Ministers after 31 March 2019.
– Approval to amend Uttarakhand Special Subordinate Education Spokesperson Cadre, Service Manual, 2019.
Amendment made in the manual for Uttarakhand Subordinate Education ‘LT’. Now 10 percent recruitment will be vacant for promotion.
– The cabinet agreed to make Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun an international airport. Which will cost around 300 crores.
– Increased the time of single time settlement of single house till December 2019.
Due to the problem being faced by Haridwar Development Authority, Mussoorie Development Authority and Pauri Development Authority, the cabinet decided that the district in which the authority will come will be considered in the same area.
– Agree to include Gangotri Special Area Development Authority in Uttarkashi Special Area Authority.
– One meter relaxation given in road construction in forest area.
