Bhakti Charu Swami, head of ISKCON governing body dies from Covid-19 in the US

Swami Bhakti Charu Maharaj, commissioner and head of the governing body of ISKCON’s highest governing committee, died on Saturday from Corona in Florida, USA. He was undergoing treatment in America. He was on ventilator for the last few days. He breathed his last on Saturday due to multi organ failure. He spent most of his time at the Ujjain ISKCON temple in Madhya Pradesh. On June 3, he flew to the US from Ujjain, on June 18, his Corona report came back positive.

Bhakticharu Swami  was one of the most beloved disciples of  Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada ji, the founder of Sri ISKCON and also got the opportunity to serve him especially in the last moments of Prabhupada ji. A TV serial serial “Abhay Charan” based on his life as a show of allegiance to his Guru was also produced. He has twice been chairman of the governing body commission of ISKCON.

He has given a unique gift to Krishna devotees by translating the devotional texts composed by Swami Prabhupada in Bengali. He also dedicated the ISKCON temple of Ujjain to spread Krishna devotion. He traveled all over the world to promote Krishna Bhakti and was also the GVC of Europe and Africa and other countries.
