IMA cadet dies during training

A cadet of the Indian Military Academy died due to injury during training. The incident occurred during the Night Navigation Exercise in the Langha Road area. The cadet was from Karnal, Haryana. The Academy Administration has ordered the Court of Inquiry in this case. Two years ago, two cadets were killed during the training.

This incident happened on Monday evening at around six o’clock. Lt Col Shivendra Singh, Public Relations Officer of the academy said that some cadets were training in Langha Road area last evening, during which Cadet Amul Raval of Karnal Haryana slipped from the hill fell down. The cadet sustained injuries on his head. He was immediately rushed to a military hospital under the supervision of doctors but before he reached, he succumbed to his injuries.

The IMA Public Relations Officer told that the deceased Amul Raval was selected through NDA. After completing three years of training at the National Defense Academy, he came to the Indian Military Academy in January this year. Cantt in-charge inspector Nadeem Athar said that the body of the deceased cadet has been handed over to the family after post mortem.

Similar incident happened two years ago

Two cadets of the Indian Military Academy were also killed during training. In August 2017, the IMA had imparted training camps for cadets named ‘First step’ in Badshahi Bagh in Saharanpur district adjacent to the Dehradun border. During the training ten kilometer race was organized. Health of seven of the cadets who participated in the race worsened. In this West Bengal’s cadet Navin Kumar Chhetri and Deepak Sharma of Punjab died during treatment. However, it was officially reported that the death of the cadets was due to dehydration and excessive fatigue.
