Barbora Krejčíková achieved a 21 year old feat of winning the French Open in singles and doubles category. Before her, this feat was achieved by Mary Pierce in 2000. Yesterday, Krejčíková became the first Czech woman player since 1981 to win the French Open.
Czech Republic’s Krejčíková teamed up with compatriot Kateřina Siniaková to defeat Poland’s Inga Swiatek and Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the United States 6-4 6-2 in the women’s doubles final.
Krejčíková, who won her maiden Grand Slam by defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in a three-set encounter, won a third major trophy with Siniaková to ensure her return to the top of the doubles rankings. This is the second trophy for Krejčíková and Siniaková at Roland Garros, who also won the doubles title here in 2018. Both of them also won the junior title in Paris in 2013. Roland Garros 2020 singles champions Swiatek and Mattek Sands were only playing together in the third tournament.
