17 courses discontinued in Kumaun University

Due to disinterest of the youth, 17 out of 62 professional courses in Kumaun University have been closed. 10 courses are on the brink of discontinuation. It is interesting that in a state which derives most of its income through tourism the university has discontinued many courses related to tourism itself. In order to improve higher education, many professional courses were started in Kumaun University and affiliated colleges. Then thousands of youth were enrolled in 62 Self-funded Courses conducted in various colleges. Most of the courses were such, in which the entry was difficult because of heavy demand. But in due course of time, due to the decline in the interest of the youth, 17 courses have to be stopped. In the remaining 45 courses, the student have dropped more than 50 per cent. In the past, more than 20 thousand students were associated with all professional courses, but today it has less than 10 thousand.

BBA Tourism, MA Public Administration, Master in Social Welfare, Post Graduation Diploma in Tourism (PGDT), Diploma in Computer Hardware Technology, Diploma in Tourism and Travel Management, Diploma in Advertising Sales Management and Sales Promotion, Diploma in Tourism Studies, Diploma in Office Management and Practice, Diploma in Computerized Accounting, Diploma In Mountain Ecosystem and Climate Change, Diploma in Counseling and Guidance, Advanced Certificate in Information Technology, Diploma in Fish Technology, Diploma in Film Making, PG Diploma in Gandhism, BSc Actual Science.
