IAS Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu appointed as new Chief secretary of Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand has got a new Chief Secretary in the form of IAS Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu. The reshuffle as the Chief Secretary is considered to be the biggest reshuffle in Uttarakhand for the last few years. He has replaced IAS Om Prakash as Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand. The latter has been made the chairman of Uttarakhand Revenue Council. Apart from this, IAS Om Prakash has also been entrusted with the responsibility of Chief Resident Commissioner Delhi. A big change is expected in the bureaucracy as soon as Sukhbir Singh Sandhu becomes the Chief Secretary. The new Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has shown the courage to do the work which the former Chief Minister could not do in two days. Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu is a 1988 batch IAS officer of Uttarakhand cadre. Additional Chief Secretary Personnel Radha Raturi had written a letter to the Center after which Dr Sandhu was released.

Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu is a 1988 batch senior IAS officer. Till now he was holding the post of Chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). During his stay at NHAI, he executed many projects related to highways. Known to be a flamboyant at work, Dr Sandhu has vast experience. He has held important positions in the central government and in the governments of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. He has been the secretary to the CM in the Parkash Singh Badal government in Punjab. After returning to Uttarakhand, he has also been the principal secretary to BC Khanduri , Vijay Bahuguna and Harish Rawat. Sandhu has been Additional Secretary in the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Dr Sandhu will now replace Om Prakash. He was made the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand on 30 July 2020.
