The much-awaited T20 World Cup match between Australia and England has been called off due to incessant rain. The outfield was covered with cover due to rain. Due to rain and wet outfield, the toss of this match also could not be done.

Earlier, the first match between Ireland and Afghanistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday was also called off without a ball being bowled due to rain. England and Australia had to face defeat against Ireland and New Zealand respectively and it was a virtual knockout for their Ashes rivals.
