Portals of Kedarnath closed for winter season 2022

The doors of Kedarnath temple were closed for the winter amidst vedic rituals on October 27. During this a large number of devotees were present in the temple premises. On October 29, devotees will be able to worship a the winter seat, Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath.

According to the tradition on Thursday, on the holy festival of Bhaiya Dooj, the doors of Kedarnath- one of the 12 Jyotirlinga have been closed for the winter season at 8.30 am as per rituals for the winter season. On this occasion, hundreds of devotees paid their obeisance. A record more than 15 lakh devotees have reached Kedarnath Yatra this year.

Special poojas started in the temple from 4 o’clock in the morning. Chief priest performed the aarti. The doors of Kedarnath Dham were closed at 08.30 in the morning under the rituals and religious traditions on the auspicious time for the winter season. While completing other religious formalities, in the presence of officials of the administration and BKTC, the doors of the temple were closed and the key was handed over to SDM Ukhimath.
