State’s solar energy policy will come next month, proposal will be kept in the meeting on March 2

The solar energy policy of Uttarakhand may come next month. Its preparation has been completed in all aspects. This policy will be kept in the cabinet meeting to be held on March 2. The government has accepted that the state has a potential of up to 2000 MW in the field of solar energy.

It has a capacity of 600 MW for large projects, 250 MW for residential projects, 750 MW for commercial and industry projects, 350 MW for institutions and 50 MW for agriculture. Solar energy policy is being prepared keeping these possibilities in mind.

Employment of local youth has also been guaranteed in the new policy. It has been said that whoever will set up the solar project by taking government land on lease, they will have to give employment to 70 percent of the local youth. UREDA will issue this condition in its tender.

Secretary Energy R Meenakshi Sundaram said that the solar energy policy is under departmental process in the government. He told that its draft will be placed in the cabinet meeting to be held on March 2. After getting the green signal from the cabinet, the solar energy policy will be implemented in the state.

Amendment will be done in CM Solar Self Employment Scheme

There was a plan to set up 10,000 solar plants under the Chief Minister’s Solar Self-Employment Scheme, but only 120 plants have been set up. Now preparations are being made to amend the CM Solar Self-Employment Scheme. For this, a meeting is going to be held on February 27 under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. Stakeholders’ suggestions will also be taken in this meeting. After this, the proposal to amend the scheme will be placed in the cabinet meeting on March 2.
