Uttarakhand weather update: Rain alert for these districts

There is a possibility of heavy rain in eight districts including Dehradun in Uttarakhand on Tuesday, September 12. The Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for rain in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts.

There are chances of several rounds of heavy rain accompanied by lightning and loud thunder in all these districts. Whereas, there is a possibility of light rain in other districts also.

Late departure of Monsoon

Meteorologists say that this time the monsoon is likely to depart late, hence there is a possibility of several rounds of rain in most of the districts of the state in September. This time a strong system did not form in the Bay of Bengal. Due to which rainfall reduced in the state.

In August itself, there has been eight percent less rainfall than normal across the state. This year the monsoon had hit Uttarakhand with a delay of five days and now there are chances of the monsoon departing with a delay. Monsoon officially departs from Uttarakhand on 30th September, but this time it may depart in the first week of October.
