Uttarakhand weather update: Yellow alert for most places on September 12

There are chances of heavy rains once again in the hilly districts of the state. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rains in some areas of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pauri, Bageshwar, Nainital, Champawat and Pithoragarh districts including Dehradun on September 12, 2025.
There are chances of heavy rains with lightning in other districts as well. Meteorologists say that due to climate change and changed weather pattern, heavy rains are still continuing in the mountainous areas. However, the speed of monsoon has decreased in the plains. Talking about the coming days, there is a possibility of light and heavy rains across the state till September 17.

PM Modi announced Rs 1200 crores for Uttarakhand
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Uttarakhand yesterday. During this, PM Modi held a review meeting on the damage caused by the disaster in Uttarakhand at Jolly Grant Airport. After the review, PM Modi announced financial assistance of Rs 1200 crore for the flood and rain-affected areas of Uttarakhand.
Along with this, the Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The Prime Minister announced comprehensive assistance under the PM Cares for Children scheme for the children orphaned due to the recent floods and landslides. The Prime Minister met the affected families and expressed condolences. PM Modi talked about full cooperation for the reconstruction of roads, schools and infrastructure. He assured the state government that the whole country stands with the state in this hour of disaster.
Along with this, Prime Minister Modi also met NDRF, SDRF and Disaster Mitra volunteers and appreciated their efforts. The central government assured full support for the restoration and reconstruction of infrastructure in the affected areas. Due to rain and disaster in Uttarakhand, the state has suffered huge economic losses. In view of this, the Uttarakhand government had demanded an economic package of ₹ 5702 crore from the Center.
