Uttarakhand Declares Public Holiday for Navami on October 1

There will be a public holiday in the state on Wednesday (October 1, 2025) on the occasion of Navami. Previously, this was a restricted holiday, but several employee organizations had demanded that it be made a public holiday. According to an order issued by Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, October 1st will be a public holiday in the state on Navami.

All banks and treasuries will also remain closed during this period. The state government has declared a public holiday on October 1st for Navami, the festival of Sharadiya Navratri. While, the festival of Dussehra, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, will be celebrated with great pomp on October 2nd. This year, Dussehra falls on October 2nd, Gandhi Jayanti. Banks and treasuries are also closed on Gandhi Jayanti. This means that there will be public holiday for two consecutive days.
