Vehicle sales increased by 14% in January: Maruti Suzuki sold maximum cars

Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has released the report of vehicles sold in January 2023. According to this, 18,26,669 vehicles were sold in the Indian auto market last month with a growth of 14%, while 16,08, 505 vehicles were sold in January last year.

Talking about passenger vehicles, Maruti Suzuki has sold maximum 1.50 lakh cars. Whereas in two-wheelers, Hero Motorcorp is on top with sales of 3.70 lakh vehicles. In the 3-wheeler segment, Bajaj Auto has sold the maximum number of 24,564 vehicles and in the commercial segment, Tata Motors has sold 31,847 vehicles.

Auto sector recovering from Corona pandemic

FADA President Manish Raj Singhian said that overall vehicle sales are increasing year-on-year, but overall sales are still 8% lower than January 2020 before the Corona pandemic. This can be gauged from the fact that 10% more two-wheelers have been sold in January 2023 as compared to January 2022, but there has been a decline of 13% as compared to January 2020.

The report pointed out that the three-wheelers segment is almost back to pre-Covid levels with 60% year-to-year growth, but still a 3% decline. The passenger vehicle category has also shown a tremendous growth of 22%. At the same time, the sales of tractors and commercial vehicles have increased by 16%.
